(New York, N.Y.) - QBE has awarded a $10,000 grant to Family
Centers, a nonprofit organization serving lower Fairfield
According to QBE President and Chief Executive Officer John
Rumpler, the grant is being given to further the QBE Foundation's
mission of supporting vocational opportunities and helping people
live more independently, successfully and productively. "Without
the assistance of this fantastic charity, people may not be able to
make strides toward helping themselves," he said. "We are delighted
our foundation grant will make a positive impact."
"We have never experienced a time when self sufficiency-related
support is needed as much as it is right now," adds Donna Spellman,
Family Centers' Director of Self Sufficiency and Independent
Living. "Given the economic climate, even those clients who had
once been fairly successful are facing vocational challenges they
never thought they would experience. This grant could not have come
at a better time, as it will have a significant impact on our
ability to serve even more people in our community."
Family Centers offers education and human services to children,
adults and families living in lower Fairfield County. The QBE grant
will support a variety of programs focusing on helping families and
adults achieve their self sufficiency goals. Grouped under Family
Centers' Fostering Independence Center of Excellence, these
programs provide vocational training and counseling, educational
support, housing assistance, support for young mothers and services
for the aging population. For more information, visit www.familycenters.org.
