If you chose the rental car reimbursement coverage on your policy, you will have coverage for the cost of the rental car, typically subject to a per day cost limit and/or number of days of rental car coverage limit. (For example, $30 per day for a maximum of 30 days.) Please refer to your policy for the specific details of the rental car reimbursement coverage available to you.

You shouldn't drive your car if:

  • It no longer complies with state regulatory requirements
  • The damage interferes with normal driving
  • The lights have been damaged
  • The radiator is leaking
  • The engine has been damaged
After you've reported your claim, including the details of other involved parties, we'll take care of any issues should they get in touch. Simply refer any calls or correspondence to your QBE Claims Professional.
If your car is damaged in an accident and we determine you're not at fault, you may not have to pay a deductible, or you may get reimbursed for your deductible after QBE recovers the amount of damages from the responsible party. We'll determine whether a deductible is applicable after reviewing the claim.

Yes, you may choose your own repair shop but if you do so, we may need to arrange for an independent appraisal of the cost of repairs. You are not required to use a QBE Direct Repair Program shop (DRP) or an Open Network Shop (an auto repair shop that can systematically upload estimates to QBE), and you will still receive high quality claims service from QBE if you decide not to use one.

In this case we typically declare it a total loss and adjust your claim for the actual cash value, which accounts for depreciation, of the vehicle at the time of loss less any applicable deductible amount. We will need information about any outstanding loans or liens on the vehicle or the title. Be sure to remove all personal items from your vehicle, including title, registration, insurance cards, and license plates.
Depending on their availability, the repairer can start work the moment they receive QBE’s authority to repair.
When you use a QBE Direct Repair Program (DRP) shop the repairs have a lifetime guarantee on the quality of repairs and for any defect due to faulty workmanship or materials. When you choose you own repair shop or a Shop of Choice (SOC) shop the warranty or agreement offered by the shop, if offered, will apply.
